Happenings I am having an exciting time looking for Sears 'Well-Built' homes in Marion and surrounding towns. I have purchased books with pictures and floor plans which are so interesting. I see lots that could be Sears Homes. One contains furnishings such as door knob, stained glass windows and open stairways. In researching, it is suggested that you look in the attic or basement as each board was marked denoting which room it was to be used. Another suggestion is to pry a baseboard away from the wall and that may have a Sears logo. I have been corresponding with a woman in South Carolina, who saw our article on the internet. She lives in the 'Magnolia' home, as each home had a name. Her home has what she calls a widow's peak and two big columns in front... a spacious, lovely home. This home carried a price of slightly over 5 thousand dollars in the catalog! Others have phoned me and some sent early pictures and stories of these homes. I hope to soon have enough material to share in one of my presentations.
