at the lakeSome of the leaves have begun to change colors already. Doesn't seem as though it has been chilly enough at night, does it? The weather has been nice - it'll be tough to let it go.

At the Kraft Shack: OIL PAINTING WITH LARRY tomorrow (Sat., Sept. 20), 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come spend a few hours with Larry and learn how to paint with oil color paints using the Bob Ross method. $40 includes all. Remember to Pre-register.

Don't forget the race at The Apple Shed tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. Kids run at 10:45 a.m. Head, Heart, Hands and Health 5K - The 5K cross-country course includes varied terrain through the orchard and woods at The Apple Shed. Come and enjoy the beautiful fall foliage! 315.331.6294

The Apple Shed is a fun place to go during the fall. They have cider, many types of apples, home-made goodies and, of course (a must for the fall season): lots of types of doughnuts to go with that cider. A fried cake with chocolate frosting is great for on the way home while you look at the leaves. The kids can feed all the farm animals. There are many pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, and the hayride tours of the farm are fun as well. A great way to welcome the fall season.

Tomorrow is the 14th Annual Community Garage Sale held by the Pultneyville Historical Society. It's held from 9 to 5, rain or shine. Head to Lake Road for the Flea Market, Farm Market, Museum exhibits and such. (And look for participating Garage Sales - they have Pink Signs.)

The Humane Society will be having a Mutt Strut at Silver Hill Technology Park, Rt. 88. Newark, on Sunday (Sept. 21) at noon. This is a great opportunity to spend some quality time together and raise money for the Humane Society of Wayne County. Here is what you do. Have your human complete a registration form and have them bring it to the shelter or a participating local veterinary clinic along with the registration fee. ($10.00 for individuals, with a maximum of $20.00 per family). You can walk your companion human along a clearly marked 1, 2, 3, or 4-mile route. There are plenty interesting things and new smells, as well as two rest and water stops along the way. Bring a blanket to sit on after the walk while your human enjoys a Burnham's chicken barbecue for only $6, and listens to live music by the Local Shepherds. Who knows, your human may even ask you to dance!

Do you like visiting a farm? Then the El-Vi Farm on Pelis Road, south of Newark is where you will want to be this Saturday. We went a few years ago and had a great time. Fun on the Farm! Wagon rides, games and much more.

The third annual Beastly Bash, organized by Klein Steel Services, will be held tomorrow, September 20, 6:30 - 10:30 p.m. at Monroe County's Seneca Park Zoo. Guests will enjoy great food from Eagle's Landing Cafe and live music, as they bid on unique animal-themed steel art pieces. In addition to Beastly Bash's live auction, there will be a silent auction, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and prize raffles. Tickets may be purchased online at www.senecaparkzoo.org/ or by calling 585.336.7200. All attendees must be 21 years of age.

Also Saturday, Boater Safety Course by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Sheriff's Office, 7368 Rte. 31, Lyons, NY. Youths between the ages of 10 and 18 are required to have a boater safety certificate to operate a boat. Anyone 27 and younger must have the certificate to operate a personal watercraft. To register please call 315.946.5714

Saturdays, October 4 & 11 and Sundays, October 5, 12 & 19: Two departures each day from Sodus, at Noon and 2:15 p.m. The Rochester Chapter of The National Railway Historical Society brings back Fall Foliage Express rail excursions. After September 20, tickets are Adults $12; Children 3-15 $8; Children under 3 ride free if seated on adult lap.

If you know of fun fall events, I'd love to know about them so we can share with other readers. Don't forget walking through the parks in the fall is a nice way to spend an afternoon with your family. B.Forman Park is a beautiful park. You can look at the water; the kids can swing. There are many parks in the Wayne County area to enjoy... Casey Park in Ontario is a great park to hike through as well. If the weekend is rainy and too cold for enjoying the outdoors, it's always fun to pick up a bunch of books for everyone and spend the afternoon reading.

Have a great week. If you have time, write to me and let me know what fun things you did.
