Production in Lyons called 'The Sounds of War' Tickets for the Historical Society Civil War production, The Sounds of War, are being sold at the Old Jail Museum at 21 Butternut Street. Performances will be held at the Wayne County Courthouse, Church Street, Lyons, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. and at Palmyra Western Presbyterian Church, East Main Street, on October 19 at 2 p.m. Both sites are accessible to the handicapped. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children. The production will begin with an historical introduction given by Civil War historian/author R. L. Murray, followed by Civil War musical selections performed by Professor James Kimball. Between musical pieces, costumed interpreters will read selected Civil War letters and newspaper accounts of the time. As part of the celebration of State Humanities Month, this program is sponsored by the New York Council for the Humanities, a state program of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Robert G. Boehmler Community Foundation, Inc. The New York Council for the Humanities is a private agency though supported by monies fom both the state and federal government.
