Two-leggers and four-leggers did plenty of strutting last Sunday. The annual Mutt Strut to benefit the Wayne County Humane Society was held at Silver Hill Technology Park in Newark. Pictured are Maggie May & Tom Collins, belonging to my husband Bob and me. Dogs of all kinds brought their humans to participate. They all walked the different pathways throughout the park and the Ultralife complex. Along the way were vendors like Canine Concerns, The Golden Retriever Rescue group, Bayer - manufacturers of Advantax - with a great big inflatable mosquito, Sally Allen of Black Pine Studios with animal portraits, Clip 'n Cuddle and even back and neck touch therapy for the humans. There were over 150 participants and they came in all shapes and sizes. One man had three leads attached to his waist so he could run with all his Border Collies. Our four-legged friends were each given a souvenir bandanna and their two-legged helper got a matching T-shirt. From the giant Mastiff to the tiny Chihuahua, they represented all of Wayne County. After the walk, everyone was treated to great live music by the 'Local Shepherds' and could partake of a delicious Chicken BBQ by Burhnam's. The Lyons Veterinary Clinic won top Vet honors for raising the most money. All prizes and goodies were donated. Registration fees from the participants paid for the shirts and bandannas so that all the sponsorships and donations went directly to the Wayne County Humane Society. The amount tallied was over $13,700. Copyright
