Apple Tasting Tour will cover Wayne County

Wayne County's Apple Tasting Tour will be October 4 and 5, with 15 participants.

There are 12 farm markets, one farm, one winery, and one country store. Apple taste testing is one way to learn the differences in apples including taste, texture and scent. Drive yourself from market to market and taste several varieties.

The following businesses will take part: Mason's Farm Market, 3135 Ridge Road West in Williamson.

• Corner Market at the corner of Rte. 104 and Pound Rd., Williamson.
• Burnap's Farm Market, corner of Lake Rd. and Maple Ave., Sodus.
• Heluva Good Cheese Country Store on Barclay Rd. in Sodus.
• Alasa Farms, on Shaker Rd. in Alton.
• Orchard View Farm Market, corner of Ridge Rd. and Lake Bluff Road in North Rose.
• North Country Winery on Slaght Rd., Wolcott.
• Pine Hill Orchards Farm Market, Rt. 14, three miles north of Lyons; (not open Oct. 5, so be sure to make plans to stop there Saturday).
• Maier's Mud Acres Farm Market, 1040 Canandaigua Rd., south of Rt. 31, in Macedon.
• Long Acre Farms on Eddy Rd., Macedon, home of the Amazing Maize Maze.
• The Apple Shed, 3391 Maple Ridge Rd. Newark, one mile west of Fairville's Four Corners, off Rt. 88 North.
• Hunneybear's Market & Garden Center, 4088 Park Dr., Marion.
• Morgan's Farm Market, Corner of Marion/Walworth & Cory Corners Rd., Marion.
• New this year are Judy's Farm Market, 9046 Catchpole Rd., in North Rose and Lagoners Farm Market, 6895 Lake Rd., in Williamson.

The participants will be offering a chance to win a One-Night Getaway at Maxwell Creek Inn B &B. To be eligible you must have your form stamped by all the participating businesses by October 31 and postmarked back to our office by November 15.
