The annual Marion high school yearbook Homecoming Chicken Barbecue, will be held today starting at 4 p.m. until sold out. Pre-sale tickets are $6.75, and $7 at the door.

A roast beef dinner takes place at the Palmyra Masonic Temple on October 5, from 11:30 to 2; Take-outs will be available. For $7 pre-sale tickets call Lyman Kaller at 597.4907 or Bruce DePew at 597.4532.

Congratulations to Eleanor Schoonerman who was the winner of the coverlet raffle at the Marion Museum on Festival Day.

Emily Estochen presented the Ministry of Music at Second Reformed Church on September 21, with a solo titled, Fly Away.

I'm looking for a few red field corn cobs for a batch of corn cob jelly. Now that I'm off the farm, I have to ask around.

Don Leno is recovering from cataract surgery.

Bill and Helga DeVries are settling in at Jacksonville, Florida, where they will be near their family.

SEPTEMBER 30, 1916: Extensive improvements have been made in the Bashford Vinegar Works and buying apples was begun there Monday. Miss Glenna Morrison is employed in the office of the company.

Thanks ... to Barb DeWandel, Eleanor Schoonerman and Linda Roeland who were hostesses at the Marion Museum on Festival Day. We had lots of visitors and lots of compliments - and some questions to research as usual.

We now have in the files a fictional story of how folks got to Marion and how Marion came to be! This was dropped of by George Shoales, and we are happy to add it to our collections.

Happy 88th birthday wishes to Marge Smith and Mary Bushart on September 17.

Congratulations to Katie (Beadle) and David Sushlaw who were united in marriage on September 20, 2003 at the United Church.
