E-911 Coordinator to address Wolcott Rotarians

In its continuing series of informational meetings on emergency health services in Wayne County, the Wolcott Rotary Club will present a program featuring James Lee, Wayne County E-911 Coordinator, at its April 14 noon luncheon meeting at the Wolcott Elks Lodge on West Port Bay Road.

Lee will speak on the E-911 Program Development. He will update citizens on the latest developments in this critical area of emergency services and explain how that ties in with volunteer ambulance service system in Wayne County.

On February 25, Jack Buzzell spoke on the Medic 88 operation, based in Sodus and on March 10, George Lockwood spoke on the changes in the Wolcott Area Volunteer Ambulance program.

The community is facing reduced medical care with the closure of Myers Community Hospital and also reduced emergency ambulance services due to the withdrawal of Monroe Ambulance Services of Rochester.

It is increasingly difficult to find citizens who are willing and able to make the commitment to meet the stringent requirements required of the volunteers that we all depend on so much. The volunteers provide the community with a great service but simply cannot handle the load. Citizens are encouraged to volunteer.

The purpose of this series of meetings is to inform the public and to encourage solutions, both short term and long term.

Members of the public are invited to attend. They should contact Henry Felker at 594.1391, Program Chairman, or Club President Dr. Derek Chan, 483.6798, to make reservations.

The Wolcott Rotary Club is a service club that is part of Rotary International, with approximately 1,200,000 members in 114 countries, promoting good will, community service and high ethical standards in business and the professions. New members are welcome to the Wednesday noon meetings at the Wolcott Elks Lodge.
