Holy Week at Lyons Presbyterian Everyone is invited to attend the special Holy Week services at The First Presbyterian Church of Lyons. Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday, April 4. The Sunday morning worship service will be at 10. Dr. Cynthia Huling Hummel will preach. Her meditation is titled 'Hosanna.' The church will also celebrate the three new 50 year members: Robert Boss, David Lauster and Barbara Bardmaker, all of Lyons. The choir is planning special music. The children will lead the Procession of Palms and Beth Whitbeck will accompany the Angel Choir as they share the song 'Jesus is King.' There will be a special coffee hour following worship recognizing and honoring all 50 year members. Also on April 4 at 2, the folk-rock group, 'basic' will perform at the church. The concert is free, but a 'free will' offering will be taken. There will be a time of fellowship after the concert with free refreshments. The group's CDs will also be for sale at that time. On Maundy Thursday, April 8, worshippers are invited to come at 6:30 p.m. for a special Footwashing Service. This will be followed at 7 p.m. by an evening prayer service and celebration of the Lord's Supper. On Good Friday, April 9, everyone is invited to participate at the ecumenical procession of the cross, as worshippers follow in Jesus' footsteps. Dress for the weather. We will meet at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Lyons and walk to area churches. At each stop there will be a reading, a hymn and a prayer. The procession begins at noon. On Good Friday evening, worshippers will gather in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church at 7 p.m. for a service of drama and music. Dr. Cynthia Huling Hummel's meditation is titled: 'At The Cross.' On Easter Sunday, there will be two services. The sunrise service will be held at 6:15 at the Boss Farm, located at 2625 Bastian Road in Lyons. In the event of inclement weather, the sunrise service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Lyons. Dr. Cynthia Huling Hummel will preach. Her meditation is titled: 'Tears of Sadness! Tears of Joy! Following the ecumenical service, everyone is invited to the Methodist Church for breakfast. There will also be a 10 service at the Lyons Presbyterian Church on Easter Sunday. The choir, under the direction of Mrs. Camille Clark and accompanied by Mrs. Janet Buell is preparing special music. Dr.Cynthia Huling Hummel's sermon is titled: 'Risen Indeed!'
