Rog and Gen Adriaansen have returned all tanned and rested from their stay in Florida during our cold and snowy months.

Have you called the Come-Unity Center and purchased your tickets for the dinner/auction at Cinelli's Restaurant, on Saturday, April 17. Carol Ritter-Wright will be the auctioneer.

APRIL 8, 1937: The new fire truck which was purchased some time ago was delivered Friday from Elmira. It has pumping capacity of 500 gallons a minute, is of 110 horse-power, has a six cylinder motor, and is equipped with a 200 gallon booster tank.

Cathedral Windows

  • 1 large package chocolate chips
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 10-oz. pkg. colored miniature marshmallows
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • Powdered sugar or coconut
  • Melt chocolate and margarine together over hot water. Add marshmallows and walnuts. Stir until marshmallows are coated with chocolate. Turn mixture onto powdered sugar (or coconut) covered waxed paper; form into a roll. Roll paper around roll; refrigerate overnight. Slice for serving. Mixture keeps well in refrigerator.

Congratulations to Dan and Alani (Frank) Herd (and very proud grandparents Ken and Deb Herd) on the birth of Zachary Jaden Herd, born March 24 at Newark Hospital. Zachary weighs 7 lbs. 5 oz.

The United Church of Marion will hold a service on Good Friday at 7 p.m.

April 2 (today) - Family Roller Skating - sponsored by the PTA from 7-8:30 in the Elementary School gym. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Spring recess from school is April 9-16

April 6 - concert by fifth and sixth grade band, at 7 p.m. at the Elementary School

The Jazz Band will perform selections including St. Thomas, a selection in Latin style, and an arrangement of Old Time Rock and Roll.

The band will play Buckingham March (a Baritone style march); an arrangement from Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean and a contemporary selection Pegasus - The Wings of Majesty.

Easter Flower Sale: Wayne County 4-H Teen Exchange Club is having an Easter Flower Sale to benefit their NY - Colorado Exchange. Tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, spring mums and lilies in six-inch pots with colorful pot covers - $6 each. Orders can be picked up at St. Anne's or St. Gregory's after Mass on April 4. Palm Sunday (April 4) the Fire Department is having another Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 to noon at the Marion Fire Hall.
