Missing Sodus Another fun week with Oscar, our new little puppy. Sarah still thinks he's a toy. (When he barks at her, he certainly sounds like one.) And though he loves to play with the cats' tails, Angel has had enough of him already - hoping he'll be leaving soon. Sneakers is trying to adjust to him and doesn't mind him much, but when she goes into his little area he makes no bones about chasing her back out of it. (Pretty brave, since she is much bigger then he is.) News from Ralph and Betty Everdyke in Florida: This is being a busy week for us down here in sunny Florida. I think the highlight of the week happened today (Tuesday). We had the final day of our golf league at Countryway Golf Club in Tampa. The foursome playing in front of us had a lady (who I would guess is over 39 because it is a Senior League) that had a hole in one on the 12th hole. Her name is Mary Burchard and a very nice lady. I think she would enjoy seeing her name on the Internet. Also Betty and I drove to Clermont on Sunday to visit the Lakeridge Winery to get our supply of Soda Pop restocked. It was a nice day for a drive in the good weather. On Wednesday we are driving to Lake Wales to visit Ron and Micki Fagner for a picnic. Also to be there and June and George Smith, and Larry and Nancy Schmall from the little village of Newark in the great northern country. Then on Thursday we will be having the banquet for the golf league at the Island Way Grill on Clearwater Beach. That should also be a great day. On Friday and Saturday I guess we will be spending the days at home unless Betty agrees to buy me dinner at one of the local restaurants. The weather has been beautiful and we are enjoying it . And Ralph sent this along later... Hi: Just got back from our picnic at the Fagner's in Lake Wales. Another person that was also there was Vera Ridley. She now lives in Florida, but was originally from Newark also. The Williamson Fire Company & Auxiliary will hold a Pancake Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt this Sunday (April 4). Cream margarine, add brown sugar then egg yolk and vanilla. Mix well. Add flour and salt. Mix well. Batter will be stiff. Spread batter into lightly buttered large cookie sheet (with sides). Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until done. Melt chocolate in microwave according to package directions and spoon over hot cookie dough. Sprinkle with pecans and cut into squares when cool. The weather now doesn't seem too positive as far as feeling like spring. Hopefully, next week will feel more like it. It is fun to go around and peek in the gardens to see if the bulbs you planted in the fall actually made it. We had a lot of squirrels in the gardens, so I thought for sure most of the bulbs were eaten. Carol Garland I'm sure is back from her trip to Florida, hope she had a good time. Soon, Newark will be a-buzz with all the people who headed for warm sunshine and palm trees a few months ago. You have a good weekend and enjoy your week. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the column - it's a big help. Keep writing to me at mgoodcooke@yahoo.com (And don't forget Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend.) Copyright ©
