The Golden Harvesters 4H Club gathered to put together 'Care Cartons.' Twenty shoe boxes were covered and filled by 4-H members with small toys, toothbrushes, combs, games, lotions and other personal items were placed into them. They were distributed by the Social Services Department in Lyons to children who are entering Foster Care.

Pearl and Hank Ververs invited eight guests on Easter to celebrate Doug and Kristin's birthdays and Pearl and Hank's 56th Wedding Anniversary. In celebration of their anniversary, Pearl and Hank enjoyed dinner at Miller's Restaurant in Benton.

Dr. Elbis Shoales and George and Lila Shoales of Williamson, spent Easter Sunday with Elbis's daughter, Jenny and family, in Henrietta.

Brian and Jill Adriaansen and boys, Craig and Derek, spent Easter weekend with Jill's parents, Roger and Grace Schneckenburger, and other family members in Glenwood.

The Masons will be holding a Chicken BBQ Saturday, May 8 at 3:30 p.m. until gone. Adults, $7 and Children, $3.50.

In conjunction with the barbecue, the Eastern Star Ladies will be holding a Pie Sale.

Members of the Curves organizations in Ontario and Newark have given donations of food stuffs to the Marion Food Pantry. Many thanks for this welcome gift.

Verne and Toni Bliek, along with their son, Bill and Stacy Reeves, of Chicago and their daughter, Kari and husband Joe Gonzalez and grandchildren, Joey and Angelina Gonzalez, all enjoyed a week-long cruise to the Southern Caribbean during the last week of March. All had an absolutely wonderful time.

I enjoyed a lovely luncheon and time with a group of Senior Citizens in Bloomfield, on Tuesday, where I presented my 'Outhouse' program.

Remember - the American Legion Home will be serving their famous Roast Beef Supper on Friday, April 16.

April 17, 1908: MJ Merson has bought the corner lot on Main and Buffalo Streets and intends to erect a fine block in which he will open a bank in the near future.

The Junior Class Magazine Drive starts April 20 and continues until May 3.

April 21 - Author's Night at the Marion Elementary School at 7 p.m.

Check and see if there is still room to attend the buffet and then the auction which will benefit the Williamson Come-Unity Center on Saturday, April 17. The events will be held at the Garlock House in Palmyra. For tickets call 589.8105.

Sue VanKouwenberg spent the Easter holiday with her mother, Gerry and other family members, from her home in Florida.
