Cooperative Extension seeks Board and Committee members Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Wayne County is looking for volunteers to serve on the Board of Directors and other advisory committees. Since 1917, CCE has been working with Wayne County citizens to increase farm profitability, build leadership amongst youth and increase the health and nutrition of the community. More recently, we also work with families to decrease debt and increase savings via our Family Budgeting Program. Due to our expanding agriculture program, we also have educational programs and field research happening for the growing nursery and landscape businesses in Wayne County, including working with livestock and landscape businesses to increase use of compost. The Board of Directors is the governing board of CCE and works in partnership with county, state and national government and Cornell University. These volunteers prioritize needs and help to evaluate programs. It is through the participants on the Board and committees that the entire focus of CCE Wayne County is determined. It is required that Board volunteers be a resident of Wayne County and 18 years of age. Most meetings are held once a month. You would be expected to attend meetings and put some time into preparation. For details and further information contact Linda Henrie, nominations chairperson. Daytime AC 585-924-4850 Ext. 231 or evenings 315-589-9459. Nominations are due by Friday, September 3.
