Roosevelt Director retiring Friday
Lynne Ward, Laila Farevaag

Lynne Ward, representing the Roosevelt staff, presents Laila Farevaag with an appreciation gift.

A retirement party was held last week at Roosevelt Children's Center, for retiring Director Laila Farevaag.

Her co-workers say they have been very fortunate to have worked with Laila for many years. During the past 28 years, Farevaag was director of Wayne ARC and the Roosevelt Children's Center.

'She has been a model, coach, mentor and friend to many of us and above all, she has taught us to function as a team, with compassion at the very core of everything. Laila has lead us with vision, and taught us to always look at what good change can bring. Her vision has been responsible for so many changes here at RCC, from new treatment modalities, off site programs, integrated programs, a new building, Day Care, Mental Health Services, and Assistive Technology Programs.'

Staff and friends agree that Farevaag's leadership at Roosevelt Children's Center gave it a respected reputation in Wayne County and across the state. Her last day at the school, located on Peirson Avenue, is August 20.

In retirement she will travel to Florida and Australia, and spend time being a grandmother.
