Newark Library lunch is next week

The Friends of the Newark Public Library will meet at noon on December 10 at the library, 121 High Street.

Dr. Fred Hicks, the guest speaker, will review In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Phillbrick. This is the true story of a Nantucket whaling ship that was struck and sunk by a whale in the Pacific Ocean in 1820. The tragedy was the inspiration for Herman Melville's Moby Dick.

Make reservations (331.4370) for the $4 luncheon before 1 p.m. on December 8.
