Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

We went to Sodus Point on Sunday to check out the festivities. We didn't get to see all of them, but did get to participate in the caroling with Santa Claus and the Mrs., and watched the trees of Sodus Point light up. It was nice to see so many people coming together to sing for the Holidays. I stopped by Ruth Lennox's house but found no one to answer the door for me. (She wouldn't be busy Christmas shopping, now would she?) I missed the ice sculptures and so I don't know how they accomplished it with no snow on the ground at the time.

Here is an easy recipe for you

Crispix Mix Sweet Minglers
Yield: About 8 cups

1 package (6 oz., 1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup peanuts (optional)
6 cups KELLOGGS CRISPIX cereal
1 cup powdered sugar

1. In large microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate at HIGH for 1 minute. Stir and heat an additional 30 seconds at HIGH or until melted when stirred. Stir in peanut butter and peanuts. Gently stir in KELLOGGS CRISPIX cereal, until evenly coated.

2. Place powdered sugar in 2-gallon storage bag. Add coated cereal to sugar and close bag. Gently toss cereal mixture until well coated. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

Microwave cooking times may vary.

It is definitely a time for company and snacking

Crispix Mix Original
Yield: 9 cups

7 cups KELLOGGS CRISPIX cereal
1 cup mixed nuts
1 cup pretzels
3 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon onion salt
2 teaspoons lemon juice
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1. Combine KELLOGGS CRISPIX cereal, nuts and pretzels in 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Set aside.

2. Stir together remaining ingredients. Pour over cereal mixture. Stir until evenly coated.

3. Bake at 250 F for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container.

NOTE: Dry roasted mixed nuts can be used in place of regular mixed nuts. ? Reduced calorie margarine can be substituted for regular margarine.

Christmas can be a stressful time... remember, things don't have to be perfect, they are supposed to be fun and memorable. Don't be too busy to read the fun holiday stories with your kids or sit down and watch their favorite holiday movie. Turn on the Christmas songs and let the kids help you wrap Gramma and Grampa's presents or maybe help them make a Christmas card. Make up new traditions for your kids to pass along. To this day, I make the Pillsbury cinnamon buns for breakfast. It was something my mom always did and still does.

Have a great week and take the time to enjoy what you are doing.
