Harold Ocque underwent surgery recently for a broken hip. Harland Silliman has returned home following a hospital stay.

The Women's Guild, a the Marion United Church, still has 'Rada' knives, dish cloths, cookie mixes available.

On 'Souper Bowl Sunday' the folks at the United Church collected $132.25 and a large box of food items for the Marion Food Pantry. They also collected $280.41 for Blanket Sunday. Through the generosity 56 blankets will be purchased through the Church World Service organization.

Harold and Eleanor Schoonerman have returned from a week-long vacation to sunny Florida, where they enjoyed the balmy weather and visited with relatives and friends.

Bev Layton has returned to her Sunset Drive home following a hospital visit.

There will be a Benefit Concert sung by Nathan DePoint on February 29 at 2 p.m. at Casa Larga Vineyards. Admission is free, however, donations will be graciously accepted towards Nate's study in Italy with the Wichita State Summer Opera program. RSVP's are necessary to 926.5160.

Ina Benton is residing at the Newark Manor Nursing Home.

Cynthia Steurrys has changed her residence from Park Place in Newark, which closed recently, to the Wayne County Home in Lyons.

Note from a friend in the hospital, who is on a strict diet, 'Thank you so much for the flowers. They were delicious.'

Eighth grade Planning Night is Feb. 24 at 6:30 in the High School Cafeteria.

February 27 will be Family Roller Skating sponsored by the PTA, 7-8:30 p.m. in the elementary school gym. Kids need to be accompanied by an adult.

February 17, 1917: The town is still in the grips of a fierce blizzard. At eight o'clock Monday morning the thermometer registered 8 below at the Newark and Marion Railway Station. The railway was snowed in for a week and after being clear for a day was again out of commission. The mail and passengers are being carried overland by sleigh.
