Missing Sodus

We are still waiting for Spring to show us some kind of sign that it's thinking about arriving fairly soon. The days seem brighter and it stays light later. Now, if it would just warm up and get rid of some of this white stuff.

News from Ralph in Florida:

'Yesterday, I was down by the Pithlachascotee River (if you can pronounce that you are better then I am) and there is an outfit there that takes people out Deep Sea Fishing. The hours on the building said fishing from 10 to 4. It must be the Pelicans' watches had the correct time, because it was 3:45 and they were waiting for the fishermen to come in. They were waiting for their free dinner when the fishermen cleaned their catches. The Pelicans eat the scraps that are discarded. The definition of a Pelican is that it is the only bird that has a bill that can hold more then his belly can.'

The Sodus Go-Getters will meet Thurs., Feb.26 at the Sodus United Third Methodist Church for their monthly pot-luck lunch at noon. Bring a dish to pass and table service. Entertainment will be the Mahoney School of Irish Dancing from the Grace Studio in Wolcott. Maureen Mahoney is dance school teacher and her students will perform Irish Dancing in their costumes. It will be an entertaining program. There are a few seats available for the IRISH ROVERS performing on March 17 at Turning Stone Casino. Call Dawn Wilcox at 587.9608 if interested.

The Seneca Park Zoo has been busy with classes for kids during the February break. At 10:15 a.m. on February 27, it will be Asian Forest, for ages 3 and 4 years old with caregiver. These fun-filled forty-five minute classes include a craft, animal encounter, and a snack.

Congratulations to Carol Dwyer on her new job in Washington DC. Carol lived in Wayne County for many years and has friends from the area who keep her up to date on the snow, as well as events that happen in the area. Also, she keeps us updated on when the beautiful cherry trees are blooming in her part of the world. Her new job at the Pentagon begins on February 23. (Impressive, Carol.)
