Newark Girls head to semi-finals
Newark 17-3 on the year found themselves down early in the game as they trailed 10-8 after one period of play. In the second quarter it was a different ballgame, as Newark outscored Victor 21-5, thanks in part to 11 second quarter points from Tiffany Collins (pictured). Tiffany had 13 of her game-high 23 points in the first half. Newark led at the half, 29-15. In the third period, Collins continued her dominance as she hit the first two jump shots to increase the Reds lead to 33-15. Newark never was tested after that moment, as they outscored the Blue Devils 17-8 in the third enroute to the win. Collins was game high with 23 points, followed by Amanda Baker with 12, and seven by Jitase Hall. Ashley Roemer contributed with six points thanks to two three pointers. Newark will now take on Honeoye Falls-Lima (18-1) at a site to be determined next Wednesday. Jim Miranda photo Copyright
