Hope you had a Merry Christmas at your home. We had a wonderful day with all the family considering the seven inches of water in the basement which put our furnace, washer and dryer out of commission - but it didn't seem to 'dampen' the holiday spirit.

Best wishes to everyone for a 'Happy and Prosperous New Year.'

A ham dinner is set for January 19 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Second Reformed Church on Mill Street. Baked ham, baked potatoes, rolls salad bar, dessert bar and beverages. Take-outs available. Donation basis with proceeds benefiting youth programs, particularly Circle C Winter Camp.

I've seen many other wonderful light displays and want to mention Wee Town on South Main Street in Marion. I am working on my New Year's Day menu. I always serve dishes that I have not made before (and chicken for those who are too chicken to try them) I'll let you know how it was received this year. I also, collect cook books. This year I received 'The Farm Cook and Rule Book', which relates how to make an ironing board cover, your own lye, and Facial Horseradish Bleach.

January 6, 1917: Carmen Reynolds and Charles Seybold will open a meat market in the Clark Block this week.

Kyle Haak presented the Ministry of Music at Second Reformed Church on December 28.

Pat Bailey is home following a hospital stay.

Rod Wise is home after knee surgery and doing well.

Sue Ellen Hawn is recuperating from cataract surgery.
