Historic grants awarded Grants totaling $ 988 have been awarded by the Wayne County Antique Dealers Association to support worthwhile projects of three (3) local historical societies. The Galen Historical Society was awarded $288 for the purchase of a TV monitor to display historical events and interviews with long time residents. The Town of Ontario Historical and Landmark Preservation Society was awarded $200 to purchase a replacement rug for the Warner House at the Heritage Square Museum. The Butler Historical Preservation Society was awarded $500 to refinish and restore two altar chairs for the Butler Center Methodist Episcopal Church. Eight (8) applications were reviewed in the 8th year of the annual partnership grant program, which was initiated by the Antique Dealers Association in 1996, to provide continuous cumulative support for the historical, cultural and creative life of Wayne County. Applications for grants to supplement ongoing or new projects will be available to Wayne County chartered historical societies again in the fall of 2004.
