County organizes for coming year The Wayne County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning to organize for 2004. The Board has three new faces, as a result of last November's election. Marvin Decker of Wolcott remains Chairman of the Board; County Administrator Kim Park is Clerk of the Board and Budget Officer; Kay Groover will serve as Deputy Clerk, Deputy Budget Officer and Purchasing Agent. When Decker accepted his chairmanship, he cautioned supervisors of the tough year ahead. Decker said that there would be some hard financial decisions to make and that one area in particular the board should look at is travel expenses. According to Decker, the county spent a quarter of a million dollars in 2003 for travel. Donna Chittenden (Sodus) will continue as Majority Leader for the GOP; and Carm Pascarella (Rose) is again Minority Leader for the Democrats on the Board. The Standing Committees have changed slightly, with new supervisors in three of the county's 15 towns. Huron's new Supervisor, Charles Frederick, will head the county's Social Services Committee; Ontario's Joseph Molino will chair the Rules and Legislative Committee; and Williamson's James Hoffman will head Public Safety. The Board designated the Courier-Gazette as an official newspaper. All county legal notices of such things as local laws, election and tax notices, will be published in the Courier-Gazette for 2004.
