The Arcadia Town Board met Monday night to prepare for 2004. Supervisor Joe DeSanto, and the four Council members unanimously agreed that Chris Davis should be appointed Town Historian. The post had previously been held by Robert Hoeltzel, who died unexpectedly Sunday morning. Davis, 46, has previously served as the Town's Deputy Historian. He is a Past President and founding member of The Arcadia Historical Society and currently serves on its Board of Directors. He is also Executive Director, newsletter editor and museum docent. Raised in Newark, Davis collects Peppermint Oil bottles and other glass. He speaks to many area groups and organizations on local history, early glass, bottles and the local peppermint industry. He is the President of the Genesee Valley Bottle Collectors Association; a Past President of the Wayne County Antique Dealers Association; Past President of the Wayne County Historical Society; member of the Lyons Heritage Society, the Macedon Historical Society, Ontario Landmark Preservation Society, the Sodus Bay Historical Society, and the Empire State Bottle Collectors Association. A member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Davis serves on the Vestry. He has been active in many community events, including last year's Sesquicentennial celebration in Newark.
DeSanto named Gary Grant as Deputy Supervisor and the Board re-appointed Gerald DeBarr to the Planning Board, and Richard Cirulli to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Copyright
