Help with backyard conservation

Each year the Soil & Water Conservation District of Wayne County (SWCD), urges residents to take steps to enhance and support conservation efforts across the county.

You can help by establishing conservation plants in your own backyard.

To promote Backyard Conservation, the SWCD makes available a variety of tree seedlings, including hardwoods, evergreens and wildlife shrubs to the public.

Available are pre-sorted packets such as a Wildlife Packet, Hardwood Packet, Bird & Butterfly Packet, Flowering Packet and new this year is a Fern Packet. Each packet contains 20 to 25 plants. The SWCD also makes available Wood Duck Nesting Boxes, Bluebird Nesting Boxes and Bat Houses.

For more information, or to receive an order form, please call the Conservation District office at 946.4136.
