Feb. 7 spelling bee sponsored by Rotary Wayne County Rotary Clubs Spelling Bee will o benefit Literacy Volunteers of Wayne County. The Bee will be held February 7 in the Bon Ton Court at Eastview Mall, beginning at 10 a.m. Last year's fundraiser netted $3300 to further the efforts of Literacy Volunteers to overcome adult illiteracy in Wayne County. Don Alhart, news anchor for TV Channel 13, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Spelling Bee. Retired Newark High School Principal Gary Grant, a member of the Newark Rotary Club, will be the word Pronouncer. Alhart was District Governor of Rotary District 7120 which includes Wayne County. The 10 Rotary Clubs within the county are Clyde, Gananda, Lyons, Newark, Ontario-Walworth, Palmyra-Macedon, Red Creek, Sodus, Williamson, and Wolcott. Registration check-in will begin promptly at 9 with the competition getting underway at 10.
