Hotchkiss Building open next weekend

The Hotchkiss Essential Oil Building on Water Street, Lyons will be open Saturday, July 10 from 10 to 4 to help celebrate Peppermint Days.

H.G. Hotchkiss formed the company in 1839 with his brother Leman Hotchkiss. Known as the 'Peppermint King,' H.G. Hotchkiss sold only the purest and highest quality peppermint oil. The oil won prestigious awards at a number of exhibitions in Europe. Lyons Heritage Society members will be available to answer questions and give tours.

Heritage Society will also have a booth at the Lyons Farm Market on July 10; on sale will be Lyons coverlets, Hotchkiss label towels, Leman's Gourmet Mints, reprints of the Hotchkiss Essential Oil booklets, and homemade baked goods. Lyons Heritage Society membership forms will also be available.

The Society meets the third Monday of each month to collect, preserve, and make available to the public historical artifacts pertaining to the Town and the Village of Lyons.
