Lyons Carp Derby results

Lyons Elks Lodge #869 recently sponsored the Fourteenth Annual Carp Derby where over 25 anglers participated.

As a means of promoting community activities for residents of all ages, this activity was located between the two canal bridges in Lyons. The fine weather and continuous flow of carp entered throughout the derby helped make this activity an enjoyable time for all.

Winners of the several categories were as follows:

• Women 14 and over: 1st- Christine Furfaro 2nd - Robyn Clingerman
• Boys 13 and under:1st - Nick Acquilano 2nd - Cody Dizmang 3rd - Camden Learn
• Men 14 and older:1st - Ken Swart 2nd - Gordon Chambers 3rd - Robert Clingerman

Prizes were also given for the combined weight of carp entered by participants as follows:

• Women: Christine Furfaro with a combined weight of 6.09 lbs.
• Men: Ken Swart with a combined weight of 15.58 lbs.

The largest carp caught during the derby was by Ken Swart with a weight of 15.58 lbs.

This activity was a catch and release program with maximum effort being made to release back all carp caught during the derby hours. Prizes included trophies, rod and reel outfits, and tackle boxes.
