A graduation/going-away part was held for Christopher VanHall, son of Steven and Kim, grandson of Gordon and Nancy Van Hall. He leaves soon for Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

'Do you realize that in about 40 years, we'll have thousands of old ladies running around with tattoos?'

Happy Birthday wishes to Florence De Neering whose birthday was on July 7.

John and Jane Ballesty entertained family members with a 4th of July picnic. Attending were Dan and Joyce Ballesty and their family from Pennsylvania.

JULY 9, 1915: Cherries bring three cents a pound at the canning factory. They cost 1 cent a pound to tick them.

THE PROBLEM - How to get two pounds of chocolate home from the store in a hot car. THE SOLUTION - Eat it in the parking lot.

John and Shirley Martin (my brother and wife) invited family members to a hot dog roast on July 4th. We had lots of delicious eats and were privileged to be in on John's new outdoor fireplace.

Nicole Sharp from Florida is visiting her family. She is spending time with her grandparents. She spent July 4th with her high school friend, Jen Devlin.

Mil Leenhouts returned to her Union St. apartment after a hospital stay.

We have received information, forwarded by Don Naeye, for our historical files, including minutes taken during the planning of the Marion Prisoner of War Camp. Information includes post-World War II and information on the men who were housed there.

Heritage Square Museum ...

More children than adults have been there as they have spent a school day in the one-room schoolhouse or on school field trips.

Heritage Square is open for tours on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30 to 4 and by special arrangements by calling Katie Scott at 524.5520.

There will be a Civil War Living History Encampment tomorrow (July 10) from 10 to 5 and July 11, 10 to 4, with battle scenarios both days. The public is welcome to come, watch, and learn about this period in our history. www.heritagesquaremuseum.org

On July 23 and 24 there will be a barn sale from 9 to 5 and July 25 from 9 to noon.
