Missing Sodus
By Melissa White

It was a nice weekend and so many fun things to do. This weekend is busy, as well. The Pultneyville Homecoming begins tomorrow morning at 10. Head to Centennial Park or visit www.pultneyvillehistoricalsociety.org

Tomorrow is also the Family Festival in Sodus Point. The fun begins at noon, and at 1, balloon sculptor Larry Moss will join the festivities. You can read all about it at www.gsbs.org

Oscar has found he likes riding in the car and having the breeze from the window blow in on him (but only a small breeze... enough to blow the little tuft on the top of his head). And chasing his tiny, party favor Frisbee is another favorite for him. He is developing quite a personality. We still miss Caesar a lot, but Oscar is a welcome little guy to our family. Sarah is getting used to him (just as long as he doesn't move too fast).

Looking for a salad recipe? Here's one from Mr. Food

B.L.T. Salad Serves 6

  • 1 medium-sized head of iceberg or romaine lettuce, shredded (about 8 cups)
  • 2 large tomatoes, chopped (about 2 cups)
  • 1 pound bacon, cooked until crisp, crumbled
  • 2 cups seasoned croutons
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Place the lettuce on the bottom of a large salad bowl. Layer over that the tomatoes, crumbled bacon, and croutons. In a blender on medium-high speed, blend the mayonnaise, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Just before serving, pour the dressing over the salad but don't toss it! (That'll ruin its super look.)

NOTE: Dig down to the bottom of the bowl when serving, so you'll be sure to have some of each layer in every portion.

The Sodus Class of '74 is having its 30th Reunion on Saturday, August 7 at O'Rileys at Sodus Point. Most will also meet informally the night before at Captain Jack's. Contact Anne (Henry) L'Hommedieu at alhommedieu@hotmail.com

Lots of fun things to do this weekend and the weekend of the 23rd brings even more. Have a great week. We waited so long for summer to come, let's make sure we enjoy every minute of it. Nice weather doesn't hang around for very long in our part of the state.
