Author Trueman coming to Newark

The Newark Public Library and others will host a book discussion program featuring award-winning author Terry Trueman.

The project is to bring together award-winning author Terry Trueman and youth ages 12 to 18 for a three-day book discussion tour. The book discussion will focus on Trueman's multiple award-winning novel Stuck in Neutral, whose main character is developmentally disabled with cerebral palsy.

The program, sponsored by the Newark Kiwanis, a Wal-Mart grant, and the Lodge at Woodcliff in Fairport, will be held at the Newark Public Library on Wednesday, July 21 at 6 in the Community Room. After the program, Trueman will autograph copies of his books, which will be for sale at the library.Stuck in Neutral has won numerous awards.

This unique program will allow the participants the opportunity for an in-depth discussion of the plot and characters enriched by the presence of the Spokane, Washington author. Trueman will provide a personal insight into living with a son affected with cerebral palsy.

Participants will be able to discuss the art and craft of writing, using words to create pictures and stories, which may inspire teens to read and possibly nurture the writing talents they may also possess.
