Drag strip to open Sunday

Warrick's South Butler Drag Strip (formerly known as Jackson's Drag Strip and King's Drag Way) will open June 6 for the first race of the season. There are big plans in the works for a fun summer for the drag enthusiast.

Heads Up Racing will be held on June 6, July 11, August 7 and 8, September 19 and October 10. The gates will open at 8 a.m. and racing will start at 10 a.m.

Owners Ron and Donna Warrick and sons, Jeff and Jim Warrick, who will do the catering, have been working hard to get the strip ready to go.

Tom and Cathleen Kelly of Eastern Speed Association will be announcing the event and running the lights. They have been working with the Warrick's to get sponsorship from area businesses and radio stations.

On August 14 and 15, September 11 and 12, and October 16 and 17, Eastern Speed Association will host Snowmobile Grass Drags on a field adjacent to the strip. Mark your calendars and get ready for the green light!
