Lyons Methodists plan workcamp mission

Young people from the United Methodist Church in Lyons will participate in a weeklong workcamp mission to the residents of Lockport.

During the week of June 27 to July 3, they will participate in the Lockport Workcamp, sponsored by Group Workcamps of Loveland, Colorado. Workcamp participants provide their own expenses and transportation to the workcamp. The young people will repair and weatherize family home for elderly, low-income, and disabled people.

Several hundred other youths and adult leaders from locations throughout the United States and Canada, representing many churches, will also participate in the Lockport Workcamp.

Through their work, these young people will gain a life-changing understanding about the hardships of poverty. And they'll feel good knowing they've helped make a family warmer and drier this winter. The workcamp provides young people with a unique opportunity to show their Christian faith by working together to help others.

Young people making the trip are: Melody Gifford, Tim Meyers, Alicia Sieling, Katee Tiballi, CJ Smith, Brian Sieling and Ashley Butler.

Adult leaders accompanying the young people will be Andy Sieling, Marvin Smith and Kris Vanderlinde.
