Another nice weekend if you weren't busy doing all the fun events that were going on. It was a great one for gardening and cleaning the garage. News from Kuwait and Jake Spencer: 'Hey, everyone. Just a quick note to tell you that I am still alive and kicking. Trying to get on a computer over here is a royal pain in the tush. Hope everything is going good on the homefront. Let me tell you guys that it is hot over here.' (Jake, I had to change a bit of the wording. Thanks for the note.) Don't forget - you can write to him at Carol Dwyer is getting comfortable in her new job at the Pentagon. Unfortunately I have lost her new e-mail address or I'd be able to let you know how she likes it. The Sodus Point Information Center is open on weekends now. Stop by for a free vacation guide and state map. There's a Strawberry Social at the Williamson Presbyterian Church tomorrow (June 19) from 3 to 7:30. Weather permitting, the Social will be held on the lawn. The Williamson Public Library hopes to be open at its new home on Route 21 by June 28. They'll close next week to make the move. Watch for details of the Summer Reading Program. There's an In The Water Boat Show this weekend at Arney's Marina. Take Dad for a boat ride for Father's Day; 10 a.m. to 3. This Saturday is the Annual Canoe Trip on Ganargua Creek from Swift Landing, Palmyra to Norsen Park in Arcadia. They launch at 10 a.m. Free 3 1/2 hour trip. Bring your canoe and life preservers and they will supply the rest. The Boy Scouts will provide a light picnic lunch for a small donation. Arcadia Transportation has generously volunteered to provide busing back to your vehicles in Palmyra. You can pick your own strawberries in June at Burnap's Farm Market. They're open Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 8 to 4. Put your 'olde treasures' in the front yard on July 24! The Sodus Chamber of Commerce is coordinating a township-wide yard sale during their OLDE TYME COUNTRY FAIRE. Many events are planned for the day that will have people traveling around the Sodus area. Some of the events scheduled are the Sodus Firemen's Antique Car Show, the Jason Buyck Memorial 5k run, open house at the Wallington Cobblestone School and the faire at the WCTA parking lot, plus a free outdoor movie at Sodus Point in the evening. Need to make a project with your child and it's supposed to look antique? We had to make up a diary with the new paper looking old. Microwave a cup of water, add decaffeinated coffee then put into a spray bottle , spray the paper with the coffee and the paper will turn a brown color wipe off the access and the paper itself absorbs the water making it have an old look as well. With a parent, light the edge a bit at a time with a lighter carefully and blow out each part as it burns a small amount of your paper. The pages the stores have for scrapbooks work best. Some school projects can be pretty intimidating Oscar is doing really well. Now, everyday, he knows we are going for a walk when the kids head off for school, so he cries when he sees the bus. Fortunately, it isn't cold anymore so I don't have to fight with him to get a sweater on. I just got a truckload of mulch, so we know what I'm going to be doing for the next three weeks. Have a great week and try to get out and enjoy some of the fun things that are going on in the area. When you have fun events you'd like to share, please write to me Copyright
