Summer is upon us and Erie Falcon Golf and Recreation is ready to go. A Grand Opening celebration is scheduled for June 25-27. Formerly the private Newark Country Club, the facility is now open to the public. Laci Kenville, Club House, and Greg Freeman, General Manager, are excited over the events that are scheduled for the celebration. On Friday, the pool is scheduled to open at 11 a.m., with mixed Scotch Doubles starting at 5 p.m. Food will be available on the patio, and a band will perform at 8 p.m. On Saturday there will be family fun and games at the pool. A BBQ lunch will be offered in the parking lot from noon to 3. A Finger Lakes wine tasting will take place between 6 and 9 p.m. in the dining room. A Jazz band plays on the patio from 7 to 11. The restaurant is open every day from 11 to 3. Sunday's activities include a pass holder tournament beginning at 10. Erie Falcon pool is also available for private parties. Jason Stevens will be pool manager. He is a certified instructor and has coached swimming in many area schools. Assisting him will be Arden Brust, Shannon Lewis, Katie Heasley, Elise Comella, and Katie Raymo. Erie Falcon Golf and Recreation is located on Country Club Drive in Newark and will offer private club amenities, but is open to the public. Daily golf specials are available, or a season pass may be purchased. As a pass holder, a total of 36 holes of great golf are available at Erie Falcon Newark, and their sister facility, Winged Pheasant Golf Course in Shortsville. General Manager Kenville said that with season passes, there will never be assessments, as with private clubs. A lot of familiar faces will be part of new Erie Falcon Golf, with Frank Lisco of Lyons heading up the Junior Program, and Al DePorter and George Evangelist assisting in the golf operation. Copyright
