Sodus Point beaches open this weekend If you are looking for a summer-time activity that all ages can enjoy you need not look any further than beautiful Sodus Point Park.Beginning on June 26, both the Lakeside and Bayside Beaches at Sodus Point Park will be open daily for swimming between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Red Cross certified lifeguards will be on the job during those hours to ensure a safe and fun day-at-the-beach experience. Sodus Point closes the beaches to swimming on Labor Day, September 6. At Sodus Point Park on July 14, 15 and 16, a special treat for young people ages 5 through 12 is being planned. Twice on each of these days during the hours of 10 and noon and then 1 and 3 p.m. Fun-in-the-Sun activities will take place, ranging from crafts to nature and, of course, swimming! This event REQUIRES PRE- REGISTRATION AND REGISTRATION IS LIMITED. NO WALK-INS ALLOWED. ALSO, AN ADULT MUST ACCOMPANY ALL YOUTH WHO ATTEND. To pre-register call 946.5624 Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 and 5, or call 483.4459 daily beginning June 26 between the hours of 11 and 7. The deadline for registration is July 7. Each session presents the same activities so please sign up for only one of the six sessions offered. Swimming and Fun-in-the-Sun at Sodus Point Park are sponsored and funded by the Wayne County Department of Aging and Youth and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
