Have you called Isabelle Bushart with your reservations for the Vermont bus trip May 3-7? This looks like a wonderful way to get out of the house and get away during some nice weather. Isabelle's number is 926.7764. John and Eileen Ballesty are back from their month-long trip through the southern states, missing some of the brutal weather we endured. Mary Ellen's Cafe will be serving fish fry on March 5, until 8 p.m., with take-outs available. See you there! 'A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.' In honor of Barb's DeWandel's birthday on March 1, her family were collected in a stretch limo and then toured Sodus Point and Chimney Bluffs, ending at the Skipper's Landing, where they all enjoyed a delicious dinner together. SPORTS REPORTS Date change: Sports Awards ceremony, originally set for Tuesday, March 9, has been changed to Monday, March 22, at 7 p.m. The Boys Basketball team (#2 seed) defeated #6 Letchworth on Monday, 85-44. Marion is now 16-4. Ryan Weser had 24 points, 13 rebounds; Jared Schutt 20 points; Justin Devlin 11 points and 12 rebounds. Marion will play #4 seed Avon (15-6) on March 6 at the Rochester War Memorial at 1:15. Earlier in the month the boys defeated Williamson, 77-43. Jared Schutt scored 23 points and scored his 1000th career point. Weser scored 18 points and Devlin 17. The JV Girls Basketball team ended its season over February break with a 39-37 win over East Rochester. Laurie East netted a team high 11 points, while Whitney Bauerman had her best all-around game of the season scoring 8 points and playing outstanding defense. The team ended with a 12-4 record. The varsity defeated East Rochester 56-26 on Feb. 17 to score the #1 seed in the Sectional tournament. This is only the third time in school history this feat has been accomplished. Suzie DeFisher led with 20 points and 15 rebounds and Mary Boerman added 12 points. The varsity girls lost to Clyde-Savannah, 53-27. Roberta Robin scored nine points for the Lady Knights.
