Missing Sodus Is spring ever going to come and stay? We got a new puppy. He is a little Maltese with cute white fur and big, black eyes like Caesar had. His name is Oscar, and he is hilarious to watch. We wanted him to have cute sweaters, but because he is so tiny, the extra small don't even work. I remembered making small teddy bears and I had gotten sweaters to put on them.... as I looked at the sweaters, I realized that the solution was to use doll sweaters. He even has an orange fleece. If he's going to want to be carried all he time, then he has to dress the part. (Plus, being so small, he gets chilled easily.) I received a letter from someone looking for a special loved one. Maybe you can help her. Hi, I have been on the Internet so often looking for a cousin of mine. Our mothers were sisters. Ruth Waite (was Snyder) and she was from Adams Center and she had two children that I know of, Jo Ann and Stevie. Her husband died in the Sodus area in the 70's or 80's. His name was Willis Waite. Do you think you could help or at least point me in the right direction? Thank you so much for your time. June Bruyns If you can help her write to her at There are only a few more weeks to enjoy the popular Book and Beast program at Monroe County's Seneca Park Zoo. Book and Beast story time is held in the Rocky Coasts Gallery at 11 a.m. each Wednesday. Children listen to a story and then enjoy meeting an animal from the education collection that relates to the story. Book and Beast is free with regular paid zoo admission. If more than 50 people arrive, a second session will be held at 11:30 a.m. Call 585.336.7214 for more information. The last Wednesday to drop in on Book and Beast is April 7. Don't miss it! Your children are sure to have a wild time! Since I got poison ivy last year just raking the fall leaves out of the garden, I thought I would write to the Garden Doctor and find out what to do with the plants so it doesn't happen again. When I got it, there were no tell-tale leaves. Then I found out that by bruising the roots in the dirt you can get it. This is the way he told me to get rid of it once and for all. (This year, I'll give it a try.) The best and only effective way to get rid of poison ivy is to use a herbicide such as Round Up. Wait until the plants are up and growing and have leaves on them. Then, use Round Up and carefully spray just the leaves of the ivy without hitting anything nearby. This will knock the plant back. Repeat applications every 10 days until the plant is gone. Round Up is a systemic herbicide that will kill the plant through the roots. You should be safe working in your garden once the plant is killed. The Garden Doctor Be careful not to get the Round Up on other plant leaves around it though, because it will kill them as well. From the Kraft Shack: SPRING BUNNY - Mon. Jim and Ruth Malone are moving into their new home this weekend. Hope it stops snowing long enough for them to get it done. Some might think potato chip cookies would taste awful, but I must say they are good. (I used margarine and it worked, if you don't want to use butter.)
Potato Chip Cookies
1 pound butter (softened) Cream butter and sugar together, then add vanilla and potato chips. Gradually add flour. Drop from a teaspoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes until edges just turn brown. While cookies are still warm, dust lightly with powdered sugar. Write to me and let me know what's happening. Have a great weekend. Now we can take down the green shamrocks and put up all the pretty pastel Easter things. Copyright
