Happenings

Congratulations to Christine L. Brown of Marion who made the honor roll for spring semester at the University of Oklahoma, Norman campus. Honor roll students are from 47 states and the Virgin Islands.

Bill and Barb DeWandel are back home from a trip out West, where they toured seven states. Some highlights were Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, 'Old Faithful,' the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, the Cliff Dwellers and Grand Tetons. They did come across cold weather, rock slides and snow.

We did have water in the basement over the weekend. Seven inches - I think it's called ground water because 'ground' comes with it! Our latest laundry set is up on cement blocks. Now, I almost need a step-stool to operate them. (I'm hoping they work when I return from our bus trip.)

Exams are coming at the local schools. I copied this from a sign in the cafeteria in the high school in Marathon, NY: 'Now I lay me down to rest. A pile of books upon my chest. If I should die before I wake. That's one less test I'll have to take.'

June Young has returned home after a visit at Clio, Michigan where she visited with her son, Rev. Tim and Mary Ann and their children, Andrew and Becka. The children and grandson Jack and Julie flew home to surprise the folks, and Grandma for the mother and daughter garden tea.

PJ's Ice Cream ice cream parlor owned by Paul Johnson and managed by Jenny Bovet, at the Marion Pharmacy, located at 3803 South Main Street is open daily from 3-10 p.m. Sunday special - Bring your own banana and get half price banana split! Also offering milkshakes, Boston milkshakes, razzles, banana splits, soda floats and slush puppies.
