Missing Sodus Did everyone get through Halloween? It's always fun to see the little trick or treaters who aren't really sure what's going on (and wondering if you are taking things out of their bag or putting them in.) November 5-7 is the Christmas Open House at LW Emporium, 6355 Knickerbocker Road, Ontario. Holiday decorations galore. Free gifts, refreshments, live music. Frosty will arrive November 6. Open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 to 5.

Amish Sugar Cookies
1 cup sugar Combine sugars, butter and oil, beat well. Add eggs and mix well. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar and vanilla. Cover with plastic wrap and put in the refrigerator overnight. Make into small balls and flatten slightly with a fork. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Do not over cook.
THEOREM PAINTING Thurs., Nov 11 - 6:30 to 9 p.m. Oil painting with layered stencils on velvet board. Come and enjoy theorem painting this star angel in flight. $35 includes all. THREE ANGEL CLASS Wed., Nov 17 - 6:30 to 10 p.m. This class will be a busy class making angels. One from wood, one with laces, and one as an ornament. $39 includes all.. The haunted barn might be over, but the Apple Shed still has wonderful produce, items that make wonderful gifts and of course really sweet animals to observe and feed. Humane Society: Annual Tree of Lights for the Animals. Each year, community members are encouraged to participate in the Tree of Lights for the Animals. The holiday tree is displayed at the shelter from Thanksgiving through the Christmas and Hanukkah seasons. All donations received from this event are used to purchase much needed equipment and supplies for the shelter. For a tax-deductible donation of $5 or more, a light will be placed on the tree. For $10 or more, a light and an ornament will be placed on the tree with the name of any animal you choose. Auction time: 2-5 p.m. (viewing beings at 1 p.m.) Tickets: $5. Available at the Shelter and at the door. Tomorrow, there's also be Book Signings in Newark: Two local history books will be signed at the Newark-Arcadia Historical Museum from 1 to 3 p.m. David Benjamin, author of 'East of Newark, West of Lyons, The Incomplete Book of Newark/Lyons Trivia' will sign his book. David will give a program on the making of the book and future projects at 2 p.m. The books sell for $9.95. Beth Hoad and Sylvia Harding, back by popular demand, will sign copies of their newly-published 'East Palmyra Remembered: The Story of a Hamlet' ($25). The museum is located at 120 High St. (corner of Mason St. and across from the Newark Public Library). Admission is free. On Sunday, November 7 there is a Spaghetti Dinner at the Marbletown Fire Hall, from noon 'til 4 p.m. Spaghetti and Meatballs, salad, Italian Bread, dessert and beverage. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children (5-12), Children under 5: free. Pre-Sale tickets are available for $1 Off. The Wayne County 4-H Teen Exchange will sponsor the event. Alana and her mom Alicia are going to NYC during Thanksgiving. They will be going to see the Macy's Day Thanksgiving Parade. they are all excited about the trip. Information from the Sodus Chamber: All Sodus residents are invited to participate on Monday, November 15, at 7: p.m. at the Sodus Municipal Building, 14-16 Mill Street. Residents interested in reviewing the Comprehensive Plan survey results may pick up a copy at the Sodus Town or Village Clerks office. The survey results are also available for review at the Sodus Free Library. There are a lot of cute fall books for the kids to read and usually this time of year, we begin dipping into the Christmas selection as well.
