The 'Rose City Quilters' meet the first Monday of every month at 10 a.m. at the Newark Community Center.

Beverly Santelli, who organized the group, may be reached at 331.7075. She said new members are welcome at any time.

(See photo) - The group is raffling a large 'Sampler' quilt, in muted pastel colors, to benefit Alex Eligh Community Center.

Recently they completed a red, white & blue Operation Homefront Quilt and sent it to Jessica Porter in Florida. She accepts patriotic quilts from groups across the country to send to the families of military personnel killed in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The ladies make baby quilts, newborn-baby hats, wall hangings and bags for wheel chairs, and these items are donated to the hospital or nursing homes.

The group works on projects for themselves, and other special projects.
