Book review in Newark

The Friends of the Newark Public Library will meet Friday, November 12 at noon at 121 High Street. Jean Richards Seymour, former Newark English teacher, will be the guest speaker. She will review three novels by Alexander McCall Smith.

Smith is a law professor, a Scotsman who was born in and loves Africa. The novels are: The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency, Tears of the Giraffe, and Morality for Beautiful Girls. The main character is Precious Ramotswe, the only lady detective in Africa, described in a New York Times book review as 'The Miss Marple of Botswana.'

The cost is $4 and reservations are needed by calling 331.4370.
