The grand opening is November 20 at 9 a.m., and continues Sunday. The new 6876-sq.-ft. store will employ six to ten people. Dollar General stores offer convenience and value to customers, by providing a focused selection of national brands and private brands of food, housewares, seasonal items, cleaning supplies, basic apparel and health and beauty care products. Dollar General customers find more than 2500 core items priced at just $1 or less, with few priced more than $25. Dollar General takes a grassroots approach to supporting literacy. All Dollar General stores serve as a place where anyone can find out where to learn to read; where to take GED classes and the GED test; or where to learn to speak and/or write English. In-store brochures feature a perforated reply card, pre-addressed and pre-stamped to ProLiteracy America. Upon receiving the cards, the organization distributes the referrals to the appropriate adult education office in each state, making sure the right service is provided for each person's particular need. Since July 2003, more than 9,000 people have been served through this program.
