The side lawn of St. Michael's Catholic School was the site of a balloon launch on Friday (November 19).

The 235 students and their teachers continued celebrating the school's opening in 1954.

Town of Arcadia Supervisor Joseph DeSanto presented a proclamation acknowledging their positive educational activities since 1954.

'My daughters went to school here, and I have a lot of fond memories of those days,' DeSanto said. After the presentation, students released their blue and yellow balloons, representing their school colors.

Following the launch, prizes were presented to the winners of the school marathon fundraiser that ran from mid-October until November 5th. The marathon netted $8000 that will be used to help run the school, and principal Shannon Heller reported Mrs. Glanzel's Pre-K class raised $920 to receive the honor of raising the most money.
