Happenings Lots of folks climbed the stairs to visit our Marion Museum during the Harvest Festival last Saturday. Some guests were first-time visitors, but many were those continually interested in what is being shown each time. Everyone was intrigued with the displays of gorgeous quilts, intricate cross stitch patterns and any and all of the handmade crafts and stitchery patterns. The Ladies Auxiliary of the West Walworth Fire Department will be holding their annual Roast Beef Supper on Saturday, October 2 at their fire hall. Servings begin at 4:30 until gone. Take-outs available. OCTOBER 1, 1942: A call for volunteers to enable the Marion branch of the Red Cross to make its quota of 300 surgical gauze sponges by this weekend is issued by Mrs. Howard Steyaart, chairman of surgical dressings. October 1 - Homecoming, Yearbook Club Chicken Bar B Q, Homecoming dance, Sponsored by Yearbook Club, Baked Food /Sale sponsored by Spanish Club. October 7 - Elementary Open House Richards Chapter #558, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold an Open Meeting on October 6 At 7:30 p.m. and anyone interested in finding out what the Eastern Star is all about is welcome to attend. Also celebrating Master Mason Night and all Master Masons and their wives are invited. Refreshments will be served. 'No one can pick a peck of pickled peppers. They have to be picked before they can be pickled.' O.E.S. roast beef dinner at the Palmyra Masonic Temple on Sunday, October 3, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Take-outs available.
