Assembly candidates to debate Wednesday night, October 27, a 6-term incumbent assemblyman will debate the first challenger he's had in 10 years. Robert Oaks, Republican Conservative incumbent assemblyman from the 128th District, will face Randy Pellis, the endorsed Democrat, at 8 p.m. in the Newark High School board room. The public is invited to attend. The debate will be televised live on Time-Warner Cable channel 12. Rus Jeffrey, news director of WACK radio, AM 1420, will moderate the hour-long confrontation, asking questions on a range of topics. Though the topics will be known to the candidates in advance, the questions will not. The 128th Assembly District includes all of Wayne County, northern Cayuga County from Lake Ontario south almost to Auburn, and three towns of Oswego County, the towns of Oswego, Hannibal, and Minetto. Oaks, of Macedon, has been the district's assemblyman for the past 12 years, having been unopposed for the past 10. Pellis, of Ontario, has been endorsed by all three Democratic county committees, but is running as an independent after a Republican challenge to his Democratic petitions.
