Housel to preach at Lyons Presbyterian Deborah Housel will be guest preacher at First Presbyterian Church of Lyons on October 31. The special service of worship celebrating 'All Saints Sunday' and 'Reformation Sunday' will begin at 10 a.m. Her sermon is titled 'Climbing Above It All.' She will co-lead the service with the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Huling Hummel. They will also co-lead the Adult Education forum that will follow worship and the time of fellowship. Housel and Huling Hummel will dialogue on how Catholics and Protestants look at 'saints' in the life of the church. Housel received her MA in Theology from St. Bernard's Seminary. She served as a Chaplain at Strong Memorial Hospital while schooling in Marriage and Family Therapy. She worked as a pastoral associate until 2002 at St. Michael, Newark and then as a pastoral administrator at St. Michael, Lyons. She is a Planning Group Liaison for the Diocese of Rochester, looking at new leadership paradigms for the church. She is working with 76 parishes in 12 counties. She and her husband, Craig, reside on Port Bay in Huron. The choir of the Presbyterian Church of Lyons is preparing special music. The choir is directed by Camille Clark and accompanied by Janet Buell. There will be a hymn sing at 9:50, prior to the worship service. Everyone is invited to attend.
