Meet at Cutter's to discuss water levels

SOS (Save Our Sodus) will meet September 15, at Cutter's Restaurant on the east side of Sodus Bay.

The meeting is to be conducted by the Public Interest Advisory Group for the International Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Water Level Study.

An Open House poster session starts at 6 and the presentation at 7 p.m. A question-and-answer session follows. This is one of many meetings scheduled around the shoreline of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River.

People are meeting to ensure effective communications between the public and the International Joint Commission (IJC). Public concerns will ultimately be reflected in the recommendations that the study board makes to the IJC in 2005.

The study is evaluating the impacts of changing water levels on shoreline communities, domestic and industrial water uses, commercial navigation, hydropower production, the environment, and recreational boating and tourism. The study will also take into account the forecasted effects of climate change.
