The JV volleyball team lost to Gananda in a very close match. Sarah Hill had a 100 percent serving record for the match. Nice job Sarah!

The Soccer Tournament was played over Labor Day weekend. In the first game, Marion lost a hard fought battle against Livonia by 1-0. The Black Knights hosted Harley-Allendale and came away with a 3-1 win.

The girls varsity volleyball team was defeated in a close match against Gananda. The team was lead by a superb defense by Steffanie Ansuini, Tanya Beman and Mackenzie Davis. Ansuini led with six kills. Beman had five assists and Davis had five sevice aces.

The 12th annual Pig Roast with a full menu will be held on Saturday, September 25 from 4:30 p.m. until Gone at the United Church of Marion, 3848 North Main Street. Tix are $7 and (ages 5-12) $3.50.

Be sure to REGISTER TO VOTE. In Marion the dates are Wednesday, September 29, from 4 to 8 and Saturday, October 9, from 2 to 9 at the Town Hall.

Fred Rachow has returned home following a hospital stay.

Cherie Hussey fell and broke her arm.

SEPTEMBER 20, 1934: The Marion school opened with 95 in the high school, 93 in the junior high and 237 in the grades and 37 in the rural districts.

Scott Bailey spoke on the 'Importance of registering to vote in the upcoming elections' during the Moment of Missions at the Second Reformed Church.

Sue Stresing from Mentor, Ohio, visited with friends and family members in Marion.

The Second Reformed Church All Church Picnic was last Sunday at the Marion Town Park.

We need volunteers to provide lunch for the men who give time and talents when working on the Marion Habitat For Humanity home on Eddy Ridge Road. They usually get volunteers to work on Saturdays, after their week's job is done.

Those who have provided food are: Bunny Sewert, Barb Ruple, Laurie Estochen, Carolyn Adriaansen, girls at the Marion Town Hall, Mark's Pizzeria, Lonnie Levan and Barb DeWandel. We are now calling these same people back. Can you help?

Volunteers are needed to work at the house, too. Can you help? 926.4436.

The Habitat for Humanity Play House is traveling around the county and will be at the Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 25, where raffle tickets will be available. The play house was built and donated again this year by Gerber Homes.
