The community assembled last Friday evening in the rain, to pay their respects to service people who were prisoners of war, or missing in action.

Lt. Col. Fred Pirelli (USAR) organized the observance, with input and participation from the Newark VFW #2883, Newark American Legion #286, and American Veterans Support Organization.

Inclement weather forced the participants to huddle under the roof of the Central Park bandstand.
