Heritage Society contest & project

Lyons Heritage Society is sponsoring a contest to choose a logo for the organization. The contest is open to anyone in the Town or Village of Lyons or who resides in the Lyons School District.

Forms may be obtained at the Lyons Public Library on Canal Street in Lyons. Lyons Heritage Society is offering a $50 Savings Bond to the first prizewinner. Second and third prizewinners will receive gift certificates to local merchants.

The design should incorporate peppermint and some other aspect of Lyons history. This could include cobblestone houses, pottery, stoneware, the Erie Canal or the railroad to name a few. All designs must be easy to reproduce and. become the property of Lyons Heritage Society. All entries should be sent to Lyons Heritage Society, Logo Contest, P.O. Box 150, Lyons 14489 by November 1, 2004.

Lyons Heritage Society has begun a fundraising project using a Current, Inc. special catalog. Items to be purchased are seasonal (Christmas) including cards, gift-wrappings, and gift items. Orders must be placed by October 18.

Anyone wishing to see a catalog or purchase items should call Theresa at 946.9262 or Annette at 946.4492. Proceeds from this sale Will be used to publish a walking tour brochure. The brochure will highlight historical buildings and significant architectural sights in the village of Lyons.
