It's apple tasting time in the county

Wayne County's seventh annual Apple Tasting Tour is scheduled for Oct. 2 and 3.

Apple taste testing is one way to learn the differences in apples including taste, texture and scent. Drive yourself from market to market and taste the different varieties and fill out the Apple Taste Test form.

The following businesses will be participating:

• Masons Farm Market, located at 3135 Ridge Road West in Williamson.
• Corner Market at the corner of Rt. 104 and Pound Rd. Williamson.
• Lagoners Farm Market, 6895 Lake Rd., in Williamson.
• Burnap's Farm Market, at the corner of Lake Rd. and Maple Ave., Sodus.
• Heluva Good Cheese Country Store on Barclay Rd. in Sodus.
• Alasa Farms, on Shaker Rd. in Alton.
• Orchard View Farm Market at corner of Ridge Rd. and Lake Bluff Road in North Rose.
• North Country Winery, located on Slaght Rd., Wolcott.
• Maiers Mud Acres Farm Market, located at 1040 Canandaigua Rd., one mile south of Rt. 31, in Macedon.
• Long Acre Farms, on Eddy Rd., in Macedon, home of the Amazing Maize Maze.
• The Apple Shed, located at 3391 Maple Ridge Rd. Newark, 1 mile west of Fairvilles Four Corners, off Rt. 88N.
• Hunneybears Market & Garden Center, 4088 Park Dr., Marion
• Morgans Farm Market, Corner of Marion/Walworth & Cory Corners Rd., Marion.
• New this year on the tour is Sawyers Country Stove Depot, 7419 Burlee Rd., in Sodus.

The participants will be offering a chance to win a One-Night Getaway at Carriage House B &B. To be eligible, you must have your form stamped by all the participating businesses by October 31 and postmarked back to our office by November 15.
